Isabela Deveza is an Australian qualified lawyer with experience in both Civil and Common Law jurisdictions, holding Law degrees from both Australia and Brazil. Isabela currently works with Pinsent Masons in Sydney as part of the Risk Advisory Services team, focusing on Infrastructure disputes. Prior to moving to Australia Isabela worked with top tier law firms in Brazil as part of their arbitration and litigation teams, and as a Federal Judge’s Associate.
Isabela successfully participated in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot both as an oral advocate for the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC/SP) in Vienna (2012) and Hong Kong (2013), and as a Coach for the same University in 2016. Isabela co-coached The University of New South Wales’ Vis Moot team for the 2018/2019 season where the team placed among the top 8 teams in the competition. Isabela has also competed as part of the Jessup in 2015 but she remembered that her heart was really in Private International Law.
A Vis Moot and Vis East enthusiast, Isabela goes every year to Hong Kong to arbitrate as part of the Vis East, having received the Star Arbitrator Award in 2018. Unable to let go of the Moot, Isabela is also the current Vice President of the Moot Alumni Association.
